Service Description

This Junior Cycle Higher Level Irish course is designed to develop students’ language proficiency across the three strands: Communicative Competence, Language and Cultural Awareness, and Literary and Creative Competence. Students will engage with a variety of texts - including prose, poetry, drama, articles, and multimedia content - enhancing their ability to read, write, speak, and listen in Irish with confidence. The course places a strong emphasis on oral fluency, critical thinking, and creative expression, while also deepening understanding of Irish culture, heritage, and identity. Key components include comprehension (léamhthuiscint), composition (scríbhneoireacht), oral communication (cumas cainte), and the study of literary texts, such as prescribed poems and short stories. Our Teacher will support our students on their journey to becoming confident, reflective, and culturally aware users of the Irish language.
