Service Description

This course is designed to strengthen students’ core skills and prepare them for success in the Junior Cycle exams and beyond. The course focuses on the three key strands of the curriculum: oral language, reading, and writing. Students engage with a variety of texts - fiction, drama, poetry, film, and non-fiction - to develop their analytical and critical thinking skills. The course places a strong emphasis on structured essay writing, personal and imaginative writing, and functional tasks such as speeches and letters. Close attention is given to key exam components, including comprehension skills and prescribed texts, while also supporting students in preparing for CBAs (Classroom-Based Assessments) and the Assessment Task. Through small-group support, this course helps students build confidence in their voice, deepen their understanding of literature, and develop clear, effective writing skills tailored to exam success.
